Contribution of the historical school to the development of economic theory

Abstract

Aim. Understanding the main ideas of the historical scientific school, assessing the contribution of the historical school to the development of economic theory.

Procedure and methods. The main content of the study is the analysis of the contribution of the historical school to the development of economic theory using the methods of structuring theoretical provisions, classifying methodological foundations and generalizing the provisions concerning the role of the historical school in the development of modern economic theory. On the basis of the methodology of system analysis, an analysis of various scientific opinions and positions regarding the content of the historical school of economics with ideas, theoretical concepts and methods that expanded the limits of economic science was carried out, the fundamental differences between the classics of political economy and representatives of the historical school of economics were considered.

Results. The article examines the contribution of the historical school to the development of economic theory, determines its innovative nature and its significance for the future development of economic science. Particular attention is paid to the fact that the historical school managed to go beyond the boundaries of classical economics, turning to the problems, facts and events of real economic life. Attention is drawn to the fact that this economic school is an outstanding example of scientific economic thought in connection with its significant contribution to the further development of economic science in terms of the development of its theory and methodology. A fundamental conclusion is made regarding the importance of achieving a historical school of economics for the development of economic science in Russia, returning to its historical roots, comprehending its economic past and planning future economic development.

Theoretical and practical significance. In this article, based on the use of system methodology, scientific abstraction and scientific synthesis, the contribution of the historical school of economics to economic theory is determined, the contribution of the historical school to the development of economic theory is clarified, it is concluded that its theoretical provisions and the developed methodology of economic research have significantly expanded horizons of classical economic theory, creating the prerequisites for the emergence of other economic theories and schools, in particular the theory of institutionalism.

The results obtained in this article can be used for further work in the field of researching the content aspects of the historical school of economics, in the process of teaching economic theory, preparing scientific articles, monographs, as well as in the process of studying problems related to the theory of institutionalism and public welfare.
