Abstract

Aim. The purpose of the study is to identify and identify the factors, indicators and trends that contribute to the emergence of asymmetry in the socio-economic development of the macroregion.
Methodology. The methods of economic analysis, the expert assessment method, and the coefficient method were used to conduct the research. The key research procedure is the grouping of indicators by region based on data on growth rates and the calculation of the integral value for each analyzed group.
Results. Based on the results of the calculations performed, it is proved that the selected research subject, the Central Federal District, is characterized by a significant degree of inequality in the regions that make up its composition. It is determined that such inequality, among other negative components, will contribute to reducing the stability of socio-economic systems, and in the future may lead to even more negative consequences.
Research implications. The theoretical and/or practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the author presents the results of calculations reflecting a serious level of regional differentiation, and based on such calculations, conclusions are formulated about how strongly such differentiation will affect the stability of socio-economic systems. The results of the study are intended to draw attention to the problem of reducing the stability of the socio-economic system of the region under the influence of a number of factors, and, first of all, the factor of regional differentiation.
