Region and Regional Management: Some Aspects of Theory and Practice (Domestic and Foreign Historical Experience)

Abstract

Aim. The purpose of this work is to analyze the concepts of region, regional management and the evolution of their content in domestic and foreign theory and practice.

Methodology. The article considers the views on the essence and content of the concepts of region and regional management, and the specifics of their implementation, taking into account historical experience and modern practice. The methods of analysis, synthesis, historical method and method of comparative analysis were used in the research.

Results. In the course of the work, it was found out that, although the concept of region entered scientific circulation relatively recently, as a phenomenon it has existed for several centuries. Regional governance, especially its international aspect, requires special attention in modern Russia.

Research implications. The results of the study contribute to the theory and practice of regional governance in the Russian Federation.
